As promised last week, Deutsch Photography is launching a series titled:

Your Singular Self:  Our Personal Branding Photography Guide

We’re excited to share our first installment in this post.

Like Minds? Not So Much.

We’ve been seeing “like minds” all over the place lately. It gives us a bit of an unpleasant chill each time we come across it.  Sometimes the phrase is in an invitation to an event, or in a social media announcement.  To us, it suggests inclusion … and exclusion.

Not to suggest that like minds shouldn’t get together. Of course they should!

“Like minds” are supportive, familiar, united. Simpatico! We enjoy minds that think like we do.

But we LOVE minds UNLIKE our own.

Because that’s when our minds expand and explode. That’s where unexpected opportunities present themselves. For learning, for business, for growth.

As Maya Angelou famously wrote, “We are more alike, my friends, than different.” Yesss — and can we get a BIG amen?!

But you are also different in hundreds – thousands! – of interesting ways. You fill us with curiosity, and wonder.

That’s why we love doing personal branding photography. Learning more about you, getting a sense of what makes you unique, what you bring to the party that no one else can.

Capturing and conveying your singularity with images that we co-create together with you.  You don’t want a brand that reflects someone else, do you?  Of course not! You want one that shows off how singular and special you are.

Look at a few of our clients.  Which ones of these do NOT look like the other ones?  ALL of them!!!

Shortcut to Understanding What Personal Branding Photos Are.

Someone was asking us today what a personal brand really is, and what personal branding photos are for. A super-fast way to get it is to picture Oprah’s magazines.  Talk about developing a personal brand! She showed herself in every possible setting — at home, at work, on the plane, on vacation. She posed with friends, with celebrities, with her dogs. She showed up decked out to the nines and dressed down in jeans and mud boots in her garden.  Through those photos, we got a very clear sense of who Oprah was, what she stood for and believed in, and what mattered to her.

That’s a personal brand.  Those are personal branding photos.

Nobody Else Can Do You like YOU Do You!

What makes you different? How does that show up in your personal brand?

In upcoming installments, we’ll share our pro

cess for how we get to the nitty-gritty of just how wonderful you are. How we uncover the details that make you and your business stellar. How we can capture that in a way that allows your clients and customers and prospects to get a sense of you at a glance. How you can convey not what someone else wants, but who you are!

Take a look at the collage of photos at the top of this page. Look how different they all are! Every client of ours brings their own special sumpin’ sumpin to life, to work, to us. We’ll help you identify and convey that special sumpin’ sumpin of your own.
