Well, THAT was fun!

I sat down this morning for a chat with the talented Lena Stoots, host of the podcast Breakfast Bite Of Insight, to discuss work, life, and the intersection therein. She’s curious, authentic and engaging, the perfect combo for an interviewer.

Breakfast Bite of Insight podcast with Lena Stoots

We talked about a wide range of topics, but kept coming back to the same central theme:  is it a good thing to combine work life and personal life?

I’m of the very strong opinion that — for me — it’s a VERY good thing. I am a whole, complex person. So are you. And I’d much rather get to know you as that person than as an “employer” or “employee.”

And bonus! Turns out our photos are much richer and engaging when we delve beneath the surface a bit.  I’m curious about your work, yes, but also about your interests, your life, what you’re watching on Netflix these days.

Speaking of which…

Usually I’m the one asking the questions — which is one of my favorite things to do with our clients — and I can tell you as a podcast #newbie, it’s different on the other side!

Improvement notes to self:

  • Back away from the camera, Sherri!
  • Don’t move so much.
  • Anticipate interview questions beforehand so that my answers are a little more cohesive and succinct.

In this wide-ranging conversation, we talked about the path to our photography biz, my involvement with Shift/Co, a number of our client (including Tina Larsson, whose portraits you can find in my blog post earlier this week), and even a bit about the health hurdles I’ve been facing lately.

So take a look and a listen to Breakfast Bite of Insight, then hit me up on LinkedIn to give me your pointers. (Please!)

And don’t worry; I can’t hear you laughing.
